Privacy policy
Research Decoded is an independent education resource. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect when you use this site or subscribe, how we use it, and the control you keep over it. The short version: we collect the email address you give us, we use it to send what you asked for and occasional educational notes, we never sell it, and you can leave with one click at any time.
1. Who we are
Research Decoded is the publisher of this site and the sender of its email program. You can reach us any time at hello@research-decoded.org, or for data questions at privacy@research-decoded.org.
2. What we collect
- Your email address, when you submit one of our forms to receive a resource or subscribe.
- The page you signed up from, recorded so we know which resource to send and which content is useful.
- Email engagement, such as whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, measured through our own tracking domain so we can improve what we send.
- Aggregate site analytics, such as which articles are read and from which broad region, in a form that does not identify you personally.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, any health condition, diagnosis, or treatment information. We do not collect it.
3. How we use it
- To send you the specific resource you requested.
- To send occasional research and education emails on the same subject, which you can stop at any time.
- To understand, in aggregate, which content helps so we can make it better.
- To keep the service secure and to meet our legal obligations.
4. Your consent, and how to withdraw it
We email you only because you asked us to, by submitting a form and confirming you wanted to hear from us. You can withdraw that consent at any time: use the one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, or email hello@research-decoded.org. Once you unsubscribe, we stop sending and add your address to a suppression list so it is not contacted again.
5. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or any information about you. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. The only parties who handle it are the service providers below, acting on our behalf to operate this resource.
6. Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers strictly to run the service:
- Email delivery is handled through Amazon Web Services (Amazon Simple Email Service), which sends our emails and processes delivery, bounce, and complaint events.
- Hosting and content delivery serve the pages of this site.
These providers process data only to deliver the service and are bound by their own data-protection terms.
7. Cookies and email tracking
This site does not use advertising cookies or sell behavioural data. Our emails contain standard open and click measurement so we can see which content is read; the links in our emails route through our own tracking domain. If you would rather not be measured, you can read in plain-text mode or simply unsubscribe.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we retain a suppressed record only so we can honour your choice not to be contacted. You can ask us to delete your data entirely at any time.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can unsubscribe at any time. To exercise any of these, email privacy@research-decoded.org and we will respond promptly. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we honour those rights for everyone.
10. Children
This site and its emails are intended for adults and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date. Material changes will be made clear.
12. Contact
